ABOUT US
Hi!
We're Karen and Sarah, the founders of The Wise Parent. We have coached hundreds of families through our Signature Parenting Programme and our Private 1:1 Coaching sessions, and we promise to walk alongside you throughout your parenting journey!
We hold degrees in Early Childhood Development & Family Systems, and Psychology & Neuroscience, and always aim to provide evidence-based parenting methods.
We are culturally-attuned, meaning we understand that your own cultural and social identity plays a part in the way you were wired, and in the way you parent today. Our approach to parenting honours the values you want to uphold, and we also want to help you parent the way you truly want (and not necessarily the way you were wired)!
As mothers who juggle work and family, we understand the real-life challenges of parenting. That's why we founded The Wise Parent - to simplify the confusing and frustrating process of sifting for the right answers all over the internet by getting all the trusted parenting expertise you need in one single place!
MEET SARAH
Sarah holds a double MSc in Neuroscience and Psychology of Mental Health and an MSc in Post-Conflict Development, and is working on her latest research in developing a trauma-informed parenting programme. She brings a wealth of experience from her background in the humanitarian sector, where she dedicated over 15 years evaluating programmes aimed at helping vulnerable communities. She worked extensively with families affected by war and conflict, focusing on trauma and its impact. Through her professional expertise and degrees, Sarah offers evidence-based support to help parents develop the skills they need to foster more resilient and emotional healthy children.
MEET KAREN
Karen has an MSc in Early Childhood and Family Development and has a rich background in analytics and strategy. She focused her academic research on how different types of play, such as academic-oriented play versus child-led play, affect a child's emotional regulation and social skills. Karen deeply recognises that play is a cornerstone of children’s learning and skill development. Her approach empowers parents to learn how to use play in their parenting, but also to understand how their family dynamics and parenting styles profoundly shape their children’s self-perception and worldview, fostering growth, confidence, and meaningful connections.
TOGETHER...
We have a shared vision to empower & inform parents, create resilient families, and, in turn, foster the healthy development of children. We use culturally-attuned, evidence-based research and techniques to equip parents with the necessary tools to enhance healthy parent-child relationships, raise confident and thriving children, and ensure a positive impact on future generations.
The essence of why we proudly carry the title "The Wise Parent"
It's not a title about us; it's a reflection of you, the parents in our community. Our aspiration is to elevate the parent-child relationship, so that it is more deeply rooted in connection, love and wisdom.
When you see "The Wise Parent," it's not a claim of personal wisdom. Instead, it embodies the collective intention we hold for every parent in our community—to embark on this journey of parenting with a blend of wisdom and love. We believe that through our shared experiences and efforts, we can support a community where each parent is empowered to navigate this beautiful (and most challenging) journey with insight and compassion.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Let's continue supporting each other on this journey toward becoming not just parents, but wise parents, rooted in connection, curiosity, and love.
